An organisation that works for the economic and social emancipation of the poorest groups in Ecuador.
Cepesiu is an NGO that has been operating for 30 years in the field of microfinance and financial inclusion.
It serves the suburban microenterprises, small producers, local artisans and families in the poorest rural areas of Ecuador.
It provides direct credit to micro businesses and supports training, coaching and a specific credit line for "public investment corporations". In the local economy these are very important: they are spontaneous organisations of people who use their savings to create a revolving fund from which to grant credit to members of the community.
Cepesiu reaches its beneficiaries in the most remote and inaccessible areas of the country through its associates who, once a week, go to the meetings with the various communities. The funding largely support subsistence activities, which merely guarantee people’s survival and only rarely generate real earnings. Over the years Cepesiu has become a leading global Etimos partner in Ecuador and in the entire Latin American continent.
